Music: How Have You Been? · Giant Rooks 🇩🇪

Five friends from Hamm, a small German city better known for its train junction, are now at the top of the German charts. Their second album goes bigger without losing what made them special: festival-size choruses with very personal, honest lyrics underneath. It went straight to number one in Germany.

How Have You Been? · Giant Rooks · Germany (2024)

Giant Rooks come from Hamm, a small city in North Rhine-Westphalia mostly known, by their own admission, for its train junction. Not exactly a hotbed of rock stardom. And yet here they are, five guys who grew up together, now topping the German charts.

Their debut Rookery already racked up over 200 million streams and took them touring across Europe and North America.

How Have You Been? is the follow up, and it does something trickier than most second albums: it goes bigger without losing what made them interesting in the first place.

Fourteen songs, high energy, built for festival crowds, but underneath the big choruses there’s a lot of very personal, very honest writing, the kind that reads more like private diary entries than stadium anthems.

It went straight to number one in Germany. Not bad for a band that started out playing small local gigs. And it sounds just as good through headphones as it does live, in front of thousands of people.
