Mudita Β· Poland

Mudita focuses on calm tech and reduced distraction. The Mudita Kompakt uses an E Ink display and a custom system designed for essential use, not endless scrolling.

A phone that puts attention first, even if that means a slower screen and fewer comforts.

The people behind Mudita made their money making something as addictive as it gets, video games, one of the founders helped build CD Projekt, the studio behind The Witcher. So it says something that his next project is a phone built to help you use your phone less.

The Mudita Kompakt looks like a normal smartphone but swaps the glowing screen for E Ink, the same kind of display used in e-readers. No endless feed, no Google services quietly watching you, just calls, texts, music, an e-reader and the basics done well. Mudita rates the battery at at least six days in standby, which says a lot about how little it is trying to grab your attention.

It will not replace anyone’s main phone overnight, but that is sort of the point. It is less a gadget and more a quiet argument that a phone can still be useful without demanding to be looked at all day.

Where it is made. Mudita designs its products in Warsaw. Its first phone, the Mudita Pure, was assembled in Poland, with some components such as the battery made in China. For the Kompakt, we could not find an official statement about where it is assembled.
